Gary and Rachel have been married for over 24 years, and they have 2 kids, Grant (20) and Olivia (16). GMS Industrial Supply was started with the vision to provide excellent materials and services to the Department of Defense in 1998. With Gary and Rachel's keen ability to build relationships, a thriving woman-owned small business, GMS Industrial Supply, Inc. (www.gmsindustrialsupply.com), was off and running in 2001 in Virginia Beach, VA. GMS continued to grow rapidly and at a steady pace; past performance was excellent; therefore, contracts and NSNs were established.

 

GMS became known in the DOD not just on the East Coast, but it was clear that there was much need on the West Coast as well, so the Gorken's took a leap of faith and moved across the country from Virginia Beach to Coronado,  CA, in 2012. In January 2022, GMS Acquired American Patriot Sales and Services to continue to build and grow the portfolio for the Warfighters. Our family of businesses has continued to grow from just Gary and Rachel to over 140 employees all over the world representing GMS. Gary and Rachel give all the glory to their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, without Whom they can do nothing. To them, everything and everyone is a blessing and a gift from God.

Rachel is the President and Owner of GMS Industrial Supply, Inc., leading the company with vision, faith, and a deep commitment to its people. As a leader, she is not only dedicated to the daily operations but also serves as an encourager and mentor, bringing clarity and inspiration to her team. Her leadership is rooted in her faith, as she walks closely with God, loves and ministers to her family, and prays with and disciples those around her.

Beyond her role at GMS, Rachel enjoys reading, writing (www.hiscrownedjewel.com), and investing in meaningful one-on-one time with sisters in Christ—something she treasures deeply. She also loves bringing people together, engaging in sports, and seeking out new adventures. Through the amazing power and grace of God, she lives out Acts 17:28: “In Him, she lives and moves and has her being.”

Gary plays a key role in the company, contributing vision, thoroughness, and attention to detail. He relies on God daily for guidance in recognizing what needs to be finalized and gaining awareness of details that may otherwise go unnoticed in everyday operations.

In 2019, Rachel was able to start up a non-profit organization, Live Love Foundation of Salvation, to provide for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those whom God has placed in her life. www.livelovefoundationofsalvation.org We believe God established GMS specifically for the ministry of LLFS, and the reason GMS continues to thrive is to take care of the least of these. A great portion of GMS proceeds goes to LLFS.
