Gary and Rachel have been married for over 24 years, and they have 2 kids, Grant (20) and Olivia (16). GMS Industrial Supply was started with the vision to provide excellent materials and services to the Department of Defense in 1998. With Gary and Rachel's keen ability to build relationships, a thriving woman-owned small business, GMS Industrial Supply, Inc. (www.gmsindustrialsupply.com), was off and running in 2001 in Virginia Beach, VA. GMS continued to grow rapidly and at a steady pace; past performance was excellent; therefore, contracts and NSNs were established.

 

GMS became known in the DOD not just on the East Coast, but it was clear that there was much need on the West Coast as well, so the Gorken's took a leap of faith and moved across the country from Virginia Beach to Coronado,  CA, in 2012. In January 2022, GMS Acquired American Patriot Sales and Services to continue to build and grow the portfolio for the Warfighters. Our family of businesses has continued to grow from just Gary and Rachel to over 140 employees all over the world representing GMS. Gary and Rachel give all the glory to their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, without Whom they can do nothing. To them, everything and everyone is a blessing and a gift from God.

Gary is the leader, visionary, finisher, and detailer of the company. He relies on God daily to bring to light the things that need to be finalized and an awareness of the details that may be lacking or hidden in everyday operations.

Rachel comes alongside Gary, blessing him as his encourager and cheerleader in the daily operations, bringing things to light that are necessary for growth in the hearts of the people on the team. She spends her days walking with God, loving Him, loving and ministering to her family, and praying with and disciplining the amazing team of people she is surrounded by. Other things she enjoys include reading, writing (www.hiscrownedjewel.com), and enjoying one-on-one time with sisters In Christ...it is her most treasured gift. She also enjoys gathering people together, playing sports, or being on an adventure. Through the Amazing Power and Grace of God, "In Him, she lives and moves and has her being." Acts 17:2

In 2019, Rachel was able to start up a non-profit organization, Live Love Foundation of Salvation, to provide for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those whom God has placed in her life. www.livelovefoundationofsalvation.org We believe God established GMS specifically for the ministry of LLFS, and the reason GMS continues to thrive is to take care of the least of these. A great portion of GMS proceeds goes to LLFS.
